Backups create restore points you can use after configuration mistakes, failed upgrades, or unwanted changes. Create them from an instance action, then manage them under Backups.
Restore can roll an existing instance back to the restore point, or create a new instance from that point. Choose the mode that matches your recovery plan.
Create a backup
Select the instance
open Instances in the correct region and select the instance to protect.
Open Actions
choose Create backup from the instance actions menu.
Name the restore point
enter a clear name and optional tag so you can find it later.
Confirm create
wait until the backup finishes, then confirm it appears under Compute, Backups.
Restore from a backup
Open Backups
go to Compute, then Backups, in the same region as the restore point.
Select the restore point
choose the backup you want to recover from.
Choose restore mode
restore onto the original instance, or create a new instance from the backup.
Confirm details
for a new instance, set the name, then review the restore summary.
Run restore
confirm the action and wait until the target instance is ready before reconnecting services.
